  • Epsilon Beta Chapter History

Texas Christian University did now allow fraternities to colonize on the Fort Worth Campus for many years. But, in the 1950's, a movement to invite a fraternity and sorority community to the campus began. Fortunately, the Fort Worth alumni chapter of Delta Tau Delta, which had been relatively inactive following the Korean War, involved themselves in the movement. The Delta Tau Delta alumni chapter was reorganized under the leadership of Dr. William Hulsey and several other alumni. Numerous meetings were held to help lay the groundwork, and eventually Delta Tau Delta became one of eight fraternities invited to colonize on the TCU campus in the fall of 1954. The Epsilon Beta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta was officially chartered at TCU on May 7, 1955.

    Delta Tau Delta Fraternity History

Delta Tau Delta Fraternity was officially established on March 5, 1858 on the campus of Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia. After becoming angry with the main social organization on campus, the Neotrophian Literary Society, eight men decided to break away from the only real club on campus and create their own secret organization. This organization was only known by the Greek letters ΔΤΔ and was created to restore integrity, accountability, and honor to the organization, values that the fraternity holds sacred to this day.

In 1886, Delta Tau Delta merged with the WWW, or the Rainbow Fraternity. The WWW was an old and respected southern fraternity founded in 1848 at the University of Mississippi. W.W. Cook drew up an acceptable agreement whereby Delta Tau Delta and the WWW would merge. By reaching out to invite others to join, Delta Tau Delta provided themselves additional strength by responding to a weak geographical area in the south. This action clearly helped fortify the fraternity and helped establish its strength in number today.
